Mucho Gusto! Open House

Almost 50 students' parents came to Open House last night!  It was wonderful to talk to so many moms and dads and grandmas and see future Spanish students (little sisters and brothers).  I hope you enjoyed meeting all the teachers and walking around our big school and up and down all the stairs!

It's only the beginning of September, but we're moving right along with our Spanish lessons.  We've started learning about 30 school-related nouns such as pencil, paper, backpack, book, etc.  Our next quiz is Friday, September, 19.

Many parents asked about homework.  I do not give homework except for studying for the quizzes.  We do so much practice in class that I do not assign extra practice outside of class.  We practice in many different ways.  Students practice with me repeating and with pair work and group work and with Power Point flashcards and activities...class games, pair games.  I try to use lots of pictures and songs to appeal to a variety of learning styles and help students memorize more easily.  We also do more traditional translations and worksheets as well.  In addition, we do computer games and activities with the computers.  The students have a "Live Binder" on their JT Learn page.  I am posting the the link here for you and making a tab for it so you can access the Live Binder.  It has links to many of the songs and computer games.  I will be updating it as the year goes on so some sections do not have links in them yet.
